The Review: 3D Lipo

There's nothing like the prospect of spending two weeks in a bikini to kick start you into getting your proverbial into gear.  And there's nothing like looking at your holiday photographs to realise that it was all too little, too late. If like me, you suffered from both of these horrors this year, then you might be thinking it's time to take some serious action.

Don't worry, I'm not talking about going under the knife, I'm far too squeamish for that. But with all the fab fat freezing technologies around, there's ways and means of getting rid of the unwanted inches with minimum pain and downtime.  3D Lipo hits it three ways, targeting fat reduction, treating cellulite and tightening the skin - voila! Could this be the perfect treatment for the invasive-averse?

Round the school gates, Ultrasound Cavitation is the buzz word amongst the yummy mummies for body contouring. 3D Lipo uses not just this latest generation technology  but combines it with Cryolipolysis (that's fat freezing to you and me). Together  these two heavyweights work as one of the best cellulite reduction and localised fat loss techniques doing the rounds. The third part of the 3D is the 3D Dermology, a rolling action massage to target the cellulite further, all combined with fractional radio frequency to tighten the skin.

All fabulous claims, but as they say, the proof is in the pudding - not that I'll be eating any for the foreseeable future. But one hour of 3D Lipo at the Skin Associates Clinic on my upper legs and glutes and I lost.... a whopping 1.5cm off each thigh. It was really relaxing too (I almost fell asleep) which put paid to the "no pain, no gain" theory.

And if you're wondering what happens to the fat? Without getting too science-y on you, the fat is enzymatically metabolised to glycerol and free fatty acids. The water soluble glycerol is absorbed by the circulatory system and used as the body's energy source, while the insoluble free fatty acids are transported to the liver and processed as fatty acids are from food.

Although it's not cheap, (around £140 for a single session of just over an hour, and six to seven weekly sessions recommended), it does seem to get the results it promises.

Christmas party dress, anyone? What? I'm just planning ahead!

  1. Ooooh! Interesting..hmmm
This does sound a better alternative than going through painful surgeries. Does it have any side effects, though? Are the results long-term?
