Bourjois Java Rice Powder

There are days when you really don't want to wear any make-up. Days when you just want to give your skin a rest and let it just breathe. Today is one of those days. But I still need to face the world, go out for lunch, and do my normal things. So this ultra finely-milled powder from Bourjois is the star of the show today. In fact, it's a bit of a one-man (woman?) show today.

As part of their 150 years celebrations (who knew Bourjois had been around for so long?), this best seller from the end of the 19th century has been re-released as a limited edition,  and I for one am hoping it will become part of permanent collection. Launched as Souvenir de le Poudre de Riz de Java, (Memory of Java Rice Powder), just a light dusting of this over the skin, (I'm using it today on bare skin, but it works just as beautifully over makeup), gives the perfect illuminising, pearly yet not shiny, sparkly nor ashen-white finish to the skin.

And the scent - ooh! You already know I'm a sucker for anything smelling of roses, so this delicate rose-scented powder just scored double time.

It's available now for £9.99 from normal Bourjois stockists. Back in 1914, this had sold around 2.5million pots around the world, and once you've tried it, you'll see why. I love that they've brought back their first ever international best seller - let's hope it stays around for the next 150 years!

  1. It's nice when companies do things like this. It's crazy how old Bourjois is!
