Now I know that this beautiful, very covetable palette has been reviewed and blogged about more than just about any other, almost to the point of it becoming an urban myth, so if you're reading my humble post about it, I'm doubly honoured, as you've probably read soooo much about it already.
Why, you may well ask, am I writing about it now, when so much has already been written? Well at the time Naked was launched, I was away on holiday, so there was no chance of me getting it then, and since then it's been pretty much sold out and impossible to find anywhere. So when I heard it was back in stock, I literally jumped onto the computer to place my order, and the days waiting for it to arrive were spent in a state of high anticipation... I know, I need to get out more!
Never before have I not opened something the minute it has arrived, but so high was my excitement that I wanted to wait until I had ample time to open and play with it, and happily, today is that day!
What may at first glance look like a palette of lots of same-y colours is in fact, a selection of all the neutrals and neutral accents I think I'll ever need, all in one very sumptuous, sexy chocolate-coloured-velvet-covered palette. It also houses a double-ended black and dark brown eyeliner and comes with a mini phial of the now cult Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Just so that you get a frisson of the excitement I felt when I opened the package, I decided to take photos along the way!
You may think this range of colours would just fade into insignificance on Indian skin tones, but they give the most polished, sophisticated definition and contouring to the eye. And to vamp it up, just a little of Darkhorse, Creep or Gunmetal at the outer edge of the eye is enough to smoke it up for a dramatic evening look.
My faves are the metallic shades, especially Sin (a pink-ish cream), Sidecar and Toasted and I think I'm addicted to Halfbaked - I'd buy this one in a single eyeshadow, as I can see myself hitting pan on this one rather soon!
The texture of every eyeshadow is as soft as butter and they blend beautifully. Don't be afraid of the metallics - the shimmer and sheen is very subtle and very, very wearable. My party eye this year could well be a combination of Sin, Sidecar, Halfbaked and Darkhorse.

I saw this when it first came out and didn't want to buy it. Then I swatched it, did a bit of girly maths and decided I wanted it. Went back to buy it and it was out of stock. It's not a must have it right now kind of buy and as it's perm. I'm going to pick it up when the Christmas rush dies down.
ReplyDeleteGood idea, I only got it when I did because I heard it was back in stock, but totally agree with you, it's a permanent keep-to-hand palette, so I'm sure it will be back in stock soon. Happy Christmas!
