I love my job, I really do. What's not to love? Spending the days learning and writing about beautiful things that make us feel and look more beautiful, trying out new products and treatments and sharing the information with my lovely readers, both here on the blog and within the printed and online publications I write for. But of course, the flip side of it is never really committing to any one product; there's always something new to try.
Where I think this can sometimes be a little bit of a problem is the whole area of skincare. Chopping and changing skincare regimes every week, fortnight or month means that sometimes, the full benefits aren't always mine for the taking. Using one product from one range, and another from a different range, slotting something else in a few days later.... you get my drift. Sometimes, it's hard not to feel like a bit of a skincare slut. So I've bitten the bullet and committed myself to a complete skincare range for a whole two months! Yes, eight weeks of using the cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream and sun protection from a single brand, to see what a difference a little loyalty might make.
The products in question are from the Environ Ionzyme C-Quence, as prescribed for me by Lucy at Milk Beauty, the mobile beauty service that comes to your office or home for a truly decadent beauty fix. This particular range is one of Environ's premium ranges as it is full of skin-friendly antioxidants, vitamins and peptides.
The products Lucy recommended for me included the utterly luxurious, creamy Cleanser that I used morning and night, double-cleansing both times (Lucy was quite admant about that!), the Toner to increase hydration and improve the appearance of an uneven skin tone (that I could either apply to the face with just my fingers or on a cotton wool pad), the Eye Gel, a deliciously light formula that was absorbed very quickly and gave me a direct hit of the vits, antioxidants and peptides for the fine lines around the eyes, and of course, the C-Quence 1 Moisturiser. This is the introductory moisturiser which contains a low dose of vitamin A and a medium dose of Vitamin C. I used this morning and night, no separate night cream to confuse the issue, which was a little different from what I'm used to. The only difference between the am/pm routine was the use of the RAD SPF15 Sun Protection during the day, as the products contain no sunscreen at all.
I'll admit, I haven't really used a toner in a very long time (like, hardly ever!), so this was an added step to my regular routine. And because Lucy was so very clear about the fact that there is no sunscreen in the products, I can proudly say not a day has gone by when I haven't used SPF, which I'm normally quite haphazard at using (what can I tell you, do as say, not do as I do?)
After exactly a month of using the products precisely as Lucy outlined, I met a friend for a drink, someone I hadn't seen in a while. She was 'oohing and aahing' over my skin, and kept asking me what I had "had done". I can see it for myself. My skin is more even-toned, more radiant (especially over the forehead, cheekbone and cheek areas) and it feels more "toned" and smoother. There have been quite a few lovely comments and compliments about my skin, which quite apart from making me feel good about myself, have proved to me the efficacy of Environ products and also the benefits of being a little less of a product whore!
Lucy also treated me to an Active Vitamin Facial, which was unlike ANY other facial I've EVER experienced before, which I'll write more about here later this week, so do check back.

Can I honestly say I won't succumb again to trying out all sorts of new products as they launch? Well, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't. But I'll certainly try to give each product a really good chance before moving onto the next one. And for now, these Environ staples have taken over the space on the bathroom shelf.
