The Face: Body-Painting, Barbarella Style

So, if you read yesterday's post, you'll see that I went to a fabulous party at The Box, where the dress code is always glamourous, no matter which day of the week you happen to rock up there. So I decided to go with a silver neoprene dress and silver heels (you can read more about it by clicking the link HERE) but as it was a Masquerade theme, I thought I'd do something different with the whole mask idea and go down the body-painting route and, yes, have my mask painted onto my face. 

No messing about with an elastic band ruining my blow-dry, or masks messing up my make-up. Essentially, the mask WAS the make-up and the make-up WAS the mask! This isn't something I would even dream of attempting on my own so I decided to enlist the services of Zaynab Mirza, founder and creator of Provoke Cosmetics. With eighteen years in the business, there's really not much about make-up that Zaynab doesn't know.

The Close-Up!! 

While I would love to make this a tutorial-style post, I really can't, as Zaynab did the whole thing, taking painstaking care and spending an hour and a half on creating the look. She matched the style of the mask with the Barbarella-esque, futuristic space-age dress, adding Swarovski crystals to really turn it into something extra special.

What I CAN tell you, though, is that I learnt I'm really not using enough concealer (I did my own base before she arrived). She's not the first person to tell me this.... hmmm, maybe I need to be a bit heavier handed with the cover-up! She also sculpted my cheekbones to perfection, slimming down my face in an instant, with just a few flicks of her hand and the sculpting brush; a definite must-learn for me.

So, as I can't tell you all the "how-to", I'll just have to be content with showing you lots of pictures so that you can see her amazing creation for yourself in all its glory. No need to add I was the only one in the room to be wearing a painted on mask :)
