I was lucky enough to attend the recent launch of the new collection from mineral make-up brand, Youngblood. Called In the Mood for Nude, this is a collection of warm, highly wearable shades, the star of which is the Moulin Rouge Eyeshadow Palette. Since I got hold of this, I've pretty much been wearing it everyday, in different variations and permutations. It's really versatile, and gives me the option to go for a very natural daytime look right through to a dramatic smokey eye for an evening out. The shades are perfect for the autumnal months, (or for Fall, for my lovely readers over there in the US.)
The compact itself is supersleek, yet satisfyingly robust. The added bonus is the large mirror so that you really can make-up on-the-go. I think the American version has a dual-ended applicator in it too, but sadly, it didn't make it's way over the Pond to us here. It's perfect if you've used it lightly for a daytime/office look and want to ramp it up for cocktails straight from work - because, yes, that is my daily life... ahem!
The four shades go something like this:
Revue (top right) is a slightly (but only slightly) iridescent vanilla white - think pearl rather than shine.
Red Light (bottom right) is a very warm orangey-reddish-brown - perfect on my skin tone.
Cabarets (bottom left) is a very dark brown, deeper than chocolate and with really un-obvious glints of red shyly showing through.
Can-Can (top left) is the yellowest of the shades, a rich caramel with radiance.
To finish the look, I've use the Youngblood lipstick in Blushing Nude with the Lipliner in Au Naturel. I'm really trying hard to wear nude tones on my lips when I've ampled up the eyes, and this shade, when worn lightly works well but I think the lipstick looked better on me when I used it again with a slightly darker, browner lipliner. (Sacrilegious, I know, but I promise I blended really well, so no harsh lipliner lines, scouts honour! I'll post that one on an upcoming #ALipADay post.)
I love the Gel Eyeliner so much, I decided to use it all over the lid with an eyeshadow brush to apply. The little beauty stayed put all day, and I loved it and all the fabulous comments I received on it, so I'll definitely be doing that again.
If you were going to invest in just one product from In the Mood for Nude collection, I'd definitely recommend the palette.
What is your Autumnal go-to look?

DeleteThanks for your comment x
So rare to find matte palettes. This one is a little jewel. I guess this will be a little bit too pricey for me but it's gorgeous all the same x

Yes it isn't cheap at £32, but I guess that works out to £8 per shadow, so it's cheaper than MAC! But, yes, Liloo, it is an investment purchase :) Are you considering the Naked Basics palette?
