My hair has become something of an obsession recently, and now, thankfully, I'm obsessed with it for all the right reasons!
After literally wrecking my hair on last year's summer holiday (four weeks of too much sun, sea and sand... I know, poor me!), I've been on a journey to save my hair (some of which you can read about by clicking HERE).
I'm now at a stage at which I'm back in love with my hair. It seems to shine when I want it too, swishes on demand and hasn't dared show its "bad-hair-day" face in quite a while. So, just as you would treat any well-behaved child with a treat or two, I'm on the scout for a few treats for my goodie-two-shoes luscious locks.
First up are the new additions to one of my all-time hair-care favourite ranges, Rahua. If you don't already know about Rahua, you can read up on it HERE and HERE. In essence, if you care about putting only natural ingredients on your hair, this is the one for you. It's 100% natural, 100% vegan, free of synthetics, paragons and sulphates, and unlike some of its competitors, (some of which I must admit to using - ahem!), it's totally free of silicone too. It's not the cheapest, but from my experience, your hair will pay you back three-fold and more.
Previously, I'd tried only the Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner, and loved it every time. The smell, the texture, the way it literally transforms my hair from string to silk, and the fact that I feel that while I'm doing something as mundane as washing (let's face it, it is boring!) I'm actually doing something fabulous for my hair at the same time.
This time, I tried the Original Version of the shampoo and conditioner. But not just any original. This is the Original, revisited, now with bells and whistles on it. The protein in the shampoo, previously from wheat, has been replaced with protein from Quinoa, so now, you can be wheat-free even when it comes to choosing products for your hair. While for some people going wheat-free is just the fashionable thing to do, for others, keeping wheat and gluten from their diet and their realm is vital for good health.
Anyhow, the new products are the Omega 9 Hair Mask and the Wax, which will be available from late-summer. (August for the Hair Mask, September for the Wax).
Essentially, the Hair Mask is a weekly treatment that will 'undo' all the harm we inflict on our hair on daily basis - no point skulking away in the back over there, you know who you are. Just one application of the Omega 9 Hair Mask, £47 for 178ml/6oz, (combined with using the original shampoo and conditioner and a spritz of the Voluminous Spray) and my hair was shiny, bountiful and frizz-free. A DIY blow-dry would normally see my hair frizzing up by the end of the day, but the photo at the top of this page was taken three days after the blow-dry, and still no frizz. That'll be thanks to the lack of nasty silicone!
The Hair Wax (£26 for 89ml/3oz), of which I have small sample, literally feels like a moisturiser for the hair. No stickiness, no tackiness, just a smooth, creamy drink for the skin that also has incredible natural-feeling hold without drying the hair out at all. On the contrary, it feels like it's doing my hair so much good. My hair is long, and I tend to shy away from waxes, as I feel they work better on shorter hair, but this one gets my vote.
I know these are more expensive than a lot of hair products on the market, but a little goes a long way, and you really see the difference it makes to the hair.

I love good old kerastase but will give this stuff a go - I also think good hair needs a good stylist but i cant seem to find one - any London Recommendations?

Your hair so gorgeous, how long have you been using Rahua? Did you rotate any other shampoos, conditioners, etc? U wash every few days?
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I've been using Rahua on and off for the last five months, and only Rahua in the last month. I have rotated with a few others, including Ojon and the John Frieda Full Repair range which I've also written about on the blog.

Hi, super review! I've been really curious about the new hair mask from Rahua because of the Quinoa protein in it. My hair= pretty damaged after a round of attempted corrective color because of a hairdresser thinking I needed red roots instead of the brown to match my hair ;). Quinoa is suppose to help with strength even more than wheat. I loved the finishing treatment from them, but not the shampoo and conditioner. Anyway- I have a product suggestion. Like I said, my hair is really damaged and frizzy, I've tried, wow- everything, was even using Purology nanoworks for a while. So my most recent miracle is from a New Zealand company called Sans New Generation Ceuticals. I've totally made it my mission to get more people hooked on them because it's hard to get here in the states for a good price, and there isn't much buzz on them on the interwebs- this stuff is amazing. I've been using their nourishing and fine hair collection and my hair has done a total 180. I've been ordering it from Zuneta and Lovelula. Anyway, Wasn't sure if youve heard of it but i saw you were still doing this series..? so worth trying.

I think the fine hair duo does plump the strands a bit, I had more body and bounce with those, but it's also super dry, so switching between the two seems to be the key for me. more than that though- I've been OMG obsessively testing my fallen hairs when I try a new product. I can definetly say they are stronger and more elastic. Now they snap after some stretch and not just from the slightest tug. I've been having a massive shedding problem, probably from stressing about my hair! Haha. It does seem to have slowed down some, but I've also cut out silicones, chemicals, been using John masters follicle treatment after a wash and Just natural skin care's grow new hair treatment before a wash. Yeah, I got desperate. Sans also has a "normal hair" duo with lots of scalp stimulator ingredients like sugar cane, apple extract and hexapeptide-11. I haven't tried it yet. I'm obsessed with this brand, I bought the body wash, lotion, oil and cleansing oil from them too- the lotion and body oil actually works everywhere, I've tried them in my dry ends too because all the ingredients are the same you'd find in hair care items. I can report all breakage has stopped with these though! I actually feel safe putting it in a pony tail now.. Haha. They have a website: sansceuticals.com.
